Skilled Curry Chef
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Curry Chef to join our busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly South Indian and curry dishes, and be able to prepare authentic, high-quality food consistently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian curry dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Prepare both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, including chicken, lamb, fish and other curry preparations.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards accurately.
- Prepare marinades, sauces, gravies, masalas and other ingredients required for daily kitchen operations.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality and presentation.
- Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the kitchen manager of any shortages.
- Minimise food waste and maintain good portion control.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen.
- Work effectively as part of a team during busy service periods.
- Assist with menu preparation and introduce new curry dishes when required.
- Ensure all equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained properly.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Curry Chef / Indian Chef in a restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, herbs, masalas and cooking techniques.
- Experience preparing a variety of curry dishes from scratch.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and portion sizes.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a kitchen team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.

Salary: £33,600 per year

- 40 hours over 6 days
