Compliance Officer (Fire Safety) - Cyson Cymru (in partnership with Newport City Council)
Location: Newport, South Wales (Office based at Caradog House)
About the Role
Cyson Cymru, working in partnership with Newport City Council, is seeking a proactive and reliable Compliance Officer specialising in Fire Safety to join our Compliance team.
This role is responsible for coordinating Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programmes, ensuring remedial actions are completed, and supporting wider statutory compliance across our property portfolio. You will play a vital role in safeguarding residents, employees, and assets by ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and health & safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing Fire Risk Assessments, including scheduling, reviewing, and tracking actions- Coordinating inspections and maintaining compliance systems and documentation
- Tracking remedial works through to completion and escalating risks where needed
- Supporting audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
- Liaising with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure safe delivery of works
- Supporting broader compliance areas such as gas, electrical safety, roller shutters, and fall protection systems
You will also act as a key point of contact for compliance queries, contributing to effective risk management and promoting a strong safety culture.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety standards.
Essential:
Experience in fire safety, health & safety, or property compliance- Knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and H&S regulations
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and compliance systems)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to achieve within 6 months)- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or working towards)
- Experience within a Local Authority, Housing Association, or LATCO
