Summary of the Role
As a Play Assistant, you'll be part of the front-line team delivering a fun, safe, and welcoming experience for children and their families. You'll help keep the play areas clean and safe, serve food and drinks in the café, support birthday parties, and provide friendly, helpful service throughout the centre. This role is perfect for someone energetic, reliable, and great with people, especially children.
You’ll work closely with the wider team and report to the Team Leader or Manager on shift.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Experience & Customer Service
- Greet guests with a warm, friendly welcome and help them feel at home.
- Support guest check-ins, answer enquiries, and assist with bookings when needed.
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor to support children and parents.
- Help manage guest flow during busy periods with a calm, positive attitude.
- Encourage safe, responsible play and gently enforce house rules.
2. Cleanliness & Presentation
- Carry out regular cleaning checks in play areas, toilets, café and communal spaces.
- Help keep the centre tidy, well-stocked, and guest-ready at all times.
- Take pride in high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
3. Food & Beverage
- Prepare and cook food to a high standard during busy periods and whenever required by the needs of the business, working with minimal supervision when necessary.
- Serve food and beverages, maintain a clean and welcoming café environment, and clear tables when required.
- Restock café and kitchen products, maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and café and support the smooth running of food and beverage service.
- Maintain food hygiene standards and follow allergen awareness procedures.
4. Party & Event Support
- Help prepare party rooms and welcome party guests.
- Support parties with activities, games, food service, and clean-up.
- Make sure every party feels special, memorable, and well-organised.
5. Health, Safety & Safeguarding
- Follow daily cleaning and safety procedures set by your supervisor or manager.
- Help carry out basic safety checks (e.g. equipment, toilets, hazards).
- Report any concerns or incidents promptly to the supervisor and/or the manager on duty.

· Previous experience in a similar setting (e.g. soft play, hospitality, retail, childcare) is helpful, but not essential, we’ll train the right person
Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
