About the role
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Assistant Management Accountant to support the preparation of monthly management accounts, balance-sheet control, payroll processing and financial reporting for Precision Ceramics and its associated group companies.
The role will also include helping to improve systems and processes across the wider business, not just within finance. You will work closely with operational teams to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, enhance reporting and support the implementation of more effective ways of working.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their experience, take on real responsibility and progress into a Management Accountant role.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end journals.
- Reconciling balance-sheet accounts, investigating variances and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Supporting stock accounting, stock reconciliations, WIP and finished goods valuation.
- Producing cost, margin and KPI reports for operational managers.
- Processing monthly payroll, pensions and related employee costs.
- Managing intercompany transactions across the UK, USA and Europe.
- Supporting VAT returns, audit preparation and year-end accounts.
- Working closely with operational and production teams to understand and improve cost drivers.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of finance systems, processes, controls and reporting.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification.
- Previous finance experience within a manufacturing or stock-based environment.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
- A solid understanding of accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- High attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business.
Desirable
- Experience using an ERP or accounting system, such as Sage 200, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Experience supporting improvements to finance or wider business systems and processes.
What we offer
- Exposure to the full finance cycle.
- A clear progression path into a Management Accountant role.
- Pension and employee benefits package.
- A supportive, collaborative team environment, with real responsibility from day one.
- Exposure to financial operations across the UK, USA and Europe.
- The opportunity to help improve systems and processes across the wider business.
