Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented General Subcontractor to lead and manage various subcontracted trades and specialized teams on construction projects. This role is vital in ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. As a key player in the project management team, you will coordinate multiple subcontractors, oversee quality standards, and ensure seamless communication across all stakeholders. Your leadership will drive project success from inception through completion, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety, precision, and timely delivery.
Duties
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors across different trades to ensure work is completed according to project specifications and timelines
- Develop detailed work schedules and monitor progress to maintain momentum and meet deadlines
- Manage project budgets with a focus on cost control, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenses stay within scope
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality standards, safety compliance, and adherence to contractual obligations
- Facilitate clear communication between clients, project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve issues promptly
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices, change orders, and work progress reports
- Implement safety protocols and conduct site safety meetings to promote a secure working environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a general subcontractor or in a similar leadership role within construction or related industries
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building codes
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated expertise in cost control to optimize project budgets without compromising quality or safety
- Effective communication skills for liaising with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and project documentation accurately
- Valid licensing or certification as required by local regulations for construction management roles
