Training Officer – Apprentice Trainer/Assessor
Reporting to: Head of Delivery
Location: Home-based, covering Oxfordshire and surrounding counties, with regular travel to apprentice workplaces.
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (pro-rata considered)
Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience, plus £300 per month car allowance.
Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Training Officer – Apprentice Trainer/Assessor to join our delivery team.
This role is centred around managing a caseload of apprentices, delivering training, assessment, coaching and support throughout their apprenticeship journey. You will work closely with both learners and employers, building strong relationships that enable apprentices to thrive and achieve successful outcomes.
The role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to be involved in the full apprenticeship lifecycle, from supporting recruitment and induction through to workplace assessment, training delivery and preparation for End Point Assessment.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of apprentices studying at Levels 2, 3 and 4.
- Carry out workplace assessments, progress reviews and observations in line with apprenticeship standards, awarding body requirements and organisational KPIs.
- Coach, mentor and support learners throughout their apprenticeship journey.
- Develop meaningful action plans to ensure learners remain on track and achieve timely success.
- Work with employers to create and maintain effective Company Training Plans.
- Deliver support and training for Functional Skills in English and Maths where required.
- Liaise with colleges and training partners to support learner progress.
- Build and maintain strong employer relationships, encouraging continued engagement and future apprentice recruitment.
- Support employers through the apprenticeship process and identify opportunities for workforce development.
- Interview prospective apprentices and provide guidance to candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Attend careers events, employer engagement activities and promotional events to represent The Engineering Trust and promote careers in engineering and manufacturing.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- A recognised Engineering qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with learners, employers and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
- A solution-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.
- The ability to work independently and flexibly to meet delivery requirements.
Desirable
- Assessor qualifications (TAQA, A1, D32 or D33).
- A teaching or training qualification.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and apprenticeship delivery.
- Understanding of current developments in vocational training, assessment and quality assurance.
