About Leggwork
At Leggwork Construction Services, we partner with leading contractors across Highways, Rail, Energy, Construction, M&E, Facilities Management, and Airport sectors, placing the right people on the right projects across the UK.
We're not a volume agency. We're a relationship-led recruitment partner that takes the time to understand our clients' needs and our candidates' wants for their next move. That's how we've built long-standing partnerships with some of the most respected names in the industry and why our people stay with us project after project.
We're currently recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 water infrastructure contractor delivering critical infrastructure projects across the Southwest under the AMP8 framework, starting September 2026.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of construction sites across the Southwest, delivering projects safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You'll be the driving force on-site, coordinating all on-site activities, managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulations, monitoring progress, and resolving issues as they arise to keep the work moving. You'll focus on individual sites, ensuring our client's standards are upheld throughout every phase of delivery.
While the role has no direct reports, you'll be a key part of the wider site management team and may be asked to mentor trainees and apprentices as they develop their careers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the site team to deliver successful project outcomes through effective planning, procurement, risk management, and clear communication
- Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring safety training and best practice are maintained across Safety, Quality, Time & Cost (SQTC)
- Working closely with site engineers, general forepersons, designers, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to align on strategy, dependencies, and delivery plans
- Identifying, analysing, and managing risk throughout the construction phase, producing the reports and outputs needed to keep project teams informed
- Managing change control effectively and ensuring lessons learned are captured, actioned, and shared
- Assisting in ensuring value for money throughout the construction phase
- Adhering to all relevant policies and procedures, and continuously improving how we deliver
Where You'll Be Based
This is a site-based role covering a large part of the Southwest. We do our best to place our people on sites within a 60 to 90-minute drive of home, though you may occasionally be required to travel to multiple sites in a week, depending on the size, complexity, and duration of the schemes.
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Previous site management experience
- SMSTS
- CSCS card
- Valid UK driving licence
- Knowledge and experience of above and below-ground structures and pipelines
Desirable:
- Experience in the water industry
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator

- Effective Risk Assessment & Method Statement Writing
- Environmental Issues in Construction
- Deep Excavation up to 6 Metres

About You
You're self-motivated and confident in identifying the most complex and demanding parts of a project. You know how to prioritise, what needs doing, when, and by whom. Strong time management is second nature, and you communicate clearly with everyone from designers to subcontractors.
What's on Offer
- £350 - £400 per shift (CIS, depending on experience)
- Long-term work on a Tier 1 AMP8 framework to secure a pipeline of projects
- Sites kept within ~90 minutes of home where possible
