The Royal Surrey is looking to appoint a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, for 7 PA/week.
The post holder will join the existing team of fifteen consultants based at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, Guildford.
The main aim of this post is to support an increase in activity across the department. Duties will be flexible depending on the skills of the applicant – core duties will be antenatal and gynaecology clinics, on-call activity and elective gynaecology and caesarean section lists. Contribution to hysteroscopy, colposcopy, scanning services and scope of operating will depend on the applicant.
The post holder will participate in the on call rota which provides 72 hours consultant presence on Delivery suite. The consultant is not resident on call at night, but it is required that the consultant will attend when required within 30 minutes.
The post holder will be expected to cover emergency gynaecology service and carry out surgery for acute gynaecological conditions .
The successful applicant will contribute to outpatient and inpatient services. In line with expected expansion of antenatal service, the post holder will have regular antenatal clinics and will be expected to support elective caesarean lists, community hubs and continuity of carer pathways.
The post holders will responsible for provision of care for patients under their care and cross cover for colleagues when on call.
The consultant will participate in departmental meetings, contribute to training, risk management and incident and policy reviews. It is expected that the post holder will have knowledge of root cause analysis, follow new NHSLA standards and participate in clinical governance. They will contribute to the delivery of Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle and Ockenden recommendations.
