Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Professional Pet Groomer to join our team.
This vacancy is exclusively for candidates who are already living in the UK and currently hold Skilled Worker sponsorship and are seeking to change their sponsoring employer.
We are also looking for professional pet stylists who are not required sponsors.
The successful candidate will have professional grooming experience and a strong understanding of animal care, handling and welfare. You will provide high-quality grooming services while ensuring every pet is treated safely, calmly and with the highest level of care.
Important Eligibility Requirements
This position is not open to overseas applicants or candidates seeking their first UK sponsorship.
Applicants must:
- Already be living in the UK.
- Currently hold or have held Skilled Worker permission and be eligible to change employer under the applicable transitional arrangements.
- Have been granted their Skilled Worker permission under the rules applicable before 22 July 2025, where required for the relevant transitional provision.
- Have maintained continuous Skilled Worker permission where this is required by the Immigration Rules.
- Be seeking to move from their existing sponsored employer to a new sponsoring employer.
- Meet all current UK immigration, occupation, salary and sponsorship requirements.
- Be able to provide evidence of their current immigration status and right to work in the UK.
The new employer will be required to provide the appropriate Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and the candidate will be responsible for making any required application to update their Skilled Worker permission. GOV.UK confirms that a Skilled Worker normally needs to apply to update their visa when changing to a different employer.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional pet grooming services, including bathing, drying, trimming, styling and nail clipping.
- Assess each animal’s coat, condition, temperament and grooming requirements.
- Handle dogs and other pets safely, confidently and compassionately.
- Adapt grooming techniques according to the individual animal’s needs.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised grooming environment.
- Communicate professionally with pet owners regarding grooming requirements, aftercare and any concerns identified.
- Follow appropriate animal welfare, health and safety procedures.
- Ensure pets remain comfortable and safe throughout the grooming process.
- Maintain high standards of professional grooming and customer service.
- Work effectively as part of a busy grooming team.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience as a Pet Groomer or Dog Groomer.
- Strong practical grooming skills and knowledge of animal handling.
- Excellent understanding of animal welfare and safe grooming practices.
- Ability to handle different breeds, sizes and temperaments confidently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in delivering quality grooming results.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy professional grooming environment.
- Physically capable of safely handling and supporting animals during grooming.
- Genuine commitment to animal welfare and professional standards.
- Already resident in the UK with existing Skilled Worker sponsorship and seeking a change of sponsoring employer.
