Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant (Nights) to join our reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, experience in senior care, and a genuine desire to support residents during overnight hours. Duties
- Provide personalised care to residents during night shifts, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being
- Supervise and support junior care staff, offering guidance and leadership during overnight hours
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and mobility needs
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes or concerns and reporting them appropriately
- Implement and review individualised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Administer medication as prescribed, adhering to all safety protocols and documentation requirements
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and resident observations
- Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent situations with calmness and professionalism
- Ensure the environment remains clean, safe, and conducive to restful sleep for residents
- To dispense medication during the night shift, take responsibility for the smooth running of your unit, and ensure care plans and risk assessments are completed and updated accordingly.
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a care home or senior care setting is essential
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of care plans and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- IT literacy for maintaining electronic records and documentation
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in supporting elderly individuals’ needs during night hours
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player
- Flexibility to work night shifts on a rota basis in accordance with organisational requirements
