Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating a large flatbed, curtain side or box lorries to transport goods efficiently across various locations. Your expertise in commercial driving and delivery will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) with a focus on flatbed, curtain side or box transportation, ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Load, secure, and unload cargo on lorries, utilizing proper techniques to prevent damage during transit. Most of loading or unloading is done by sites.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each journey
- Plan efficient delivery routes, adhering to schedules and customer requirements to ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including delivery logs, mileage records, and any incident reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery times, delays, or issues encountered during transit
- Follow all driving laws and safety protocols diligently to promote a safe working environment for yourself and others
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, specifically with flatbed, curtain side, and box trailers loads and delivery routes
- Valid HGV Class 1 license with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of driving regulations and safety standards for large vehicles
- Experience with delivery driver responsibilities, including loading/unloading cargo and route planning
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and customers effectively
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as securing loads on flatbeds and lifting cargo when necessary
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings or weekends if required
