Help people change their lives. This is that job.
At Tech Educators, we believe a career in tech should be open to everyone — not just those who already have a foot in the door. We run instructor-led bootcamps, that take people from all walks of life and give them the skills, confidence, and support to land real jobs in the tech industry.
We're looking for a Careers Adviser and Mentor who shares that belief — someone who gets genuinely excited about helping people unlock their potential, navigate a new industry, and land the role they've been working towards.
What you'll actually be doing
You'll be the person our students turn to when they're ready to take the leap into tech. Day to day, that means:
- Guiding careers, one person at a time. You'll deliver personalised Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) — building tailored action plans, tracking progress, and adapting your approach as learners' goals evolve.
- Running workshops that make a difference. From CV writing and LinkedIn profiles to mock interviews and job search strategy, you'll lead engaging sessions that build real employability skills.
- Opening doors with employers. You'll build and nurture relationships with tech companies, recruiters, and industry professionals — creating opportunities and championing our no-hiring-fees policy to make us the go-to partner for employers.
- Staying in it for the long haul. Your support doesn't stop at the end of the course. You'll provide career guidance for up to six months post-bootcamp and help build a thriving alumni community through regular events and networking.
- Making decisions with data. You'll track outcomes, analyse trends, and produce reports that keep our career support sharp and improving.
Who we're looking for
You don't need to tick every box — we care more about your passion and potential than your CV. That said, the right person will likely have:
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting people into work, especially those facing barriers
- Strong communication and coaching skills — you're someone people open up to
- The initiative to spot a problem and solve it creatively
- Experience working towards targets and performance goals
- An interest in the UK tech sector (knowledge of job roles and employer expectations is a bonus)
- Careers experience would be an advantage
A background in careers guidance, education, recruitment, or employability would be great, but it's not essential. We hire for attitude and coach for skill.
What we offer
- A salary that grows with your experience: £22,586 – £30,485
- A fully funded Level 4 CIAG qualification if you don't already hold one
- A permanent contract with 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Auto-enrolment pension
- DBS check covered by us
- The chance to be part of a mission-driven team that genuinely changes lives
A note on inclusion
We're committed to building a team as diverse as the students we serve. We particularly welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in the careers and tech sectors. If you need any adjustments during the application process, just let us know.
Tech Educators is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students. The successful applicant will be required to obtain a DBS check.
