Energy Manager
Location: London, E16 (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Salary: £75,000 + benefits
Reporting to: Facilities Director
Purpose of the Role
The Energy Manager is responsible for delivering efficient, cost-effective energy management across the Excel London estate. This role focuses on reducing energy consumption, improving operational performance, and ensuring compliance with all relevant energy, water, and environmental legislation.
You will lead on energy data analysis, reporting, and strategy development while working closely with internal teams and external partners to drive sustainability initiatives and long-term energy performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee energy consumption across the estate, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery of utilities
- Collect, validate, analyse, and report on energy and utilities data (electricity, gas, water, heating/cooling) in line with recognised standards (e.g. GHG Protocol, UK Sustainability Reporting Standards)
- Develop, monitor, and report on energy KPIs, trends, and performance to key stakeholders
- Identify inefficiencies through data analysis, energy audits, and system reviews, and implement initiatives to reduce energy consumption and operating costs
- Produce detailed energy reports and provide insights to internal teams and external stakeholders, including event organisers
- Lead the prioritisation and delivery of energy efficiency initiatives using data-driven insights, benchmarking, and lifecycle analysis
- Oversee metering strategy, including sub-metering, and lead CAPEX projects for meter upgrades and implementation of real-time energy platforms
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g. AI optimisation, demand-response, digital twins) to enhance energy performance
- Optimise building systems including HVAC, lighting, and Building Management Systems (BMS/BEMS) to improve efficiency and performance
- Manage energy budgets, expenditure forecasting, and financial tracking in collaboration with Finance
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and the Energy Centre operator.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant energy, water, and environmental legislation,
- Provide specialist energy management support across the business, ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for staff, customers, and visitors
- Promote energy awareness across the organisation through training, engagement, and communication initiatives, driving a culture of sustainability and behavioural change
Experience
- 3–5+ years’ experience in energy management or similar field
- Strong knowledge of energy legislation and carbon reduction frameworks
- Solid technical understanding of M&E systems and BEMS
- Experience analysing energy data to drive decision-making
- Knowledge of utility contracts (fixed and flexible)
- Understanding of district heating systems
Qualifications
- Relevant Electrical or Mechanical qualification OR
- Degree or certification in Energy Management or related field
