Title: Cook/Chef
Salary: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
Hours: 7.00am- 1.00pm
General role:
Undertake all cooking and preparation of nutritional meals in a care home environment for service users
Qualifications Required:
Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery or,
BTEC HND in cookery or City & Guilds qualification in professional cookery
Hold a current Food & Hygiene & health & safety certificate in the workplace
Knowledge of:
Methods and procedures regarding food preparation and preservation.
Health and cultural diets.
Food Standards Agency Regulations (safer food better business)
Monitoring food production to ensure consistent quality and portion size stock control
Following relevant hygiene, health and safety guidelines.
Accountable to:
Registered manager or senior on duty.
Duties:
* Prepare in the routine cooking & serving of food
* Organize routine to have meals ready to serve at scheduled
times
* Prepare meals that meet the dietary and cultural
requirements of service users
* Prepare morning tea & coffee for service users.
* Monitor and control food temperatures
* Monitor and control fridge & freezer temperatures
* Plan menus weekly in advance
* Rotate stock to meet with use by date requirements.
* Perform other cooking duties as related or necessary.
* Ensure leftover food is chilled and labelled or disposed of .
Cleaning & Hygiene:
* Ensure all utensils are cleaned and sanitized as required
* Ensure correct utensils are used
* Maintain a clean environment
* All washing up and cleaning of kitchen to be done after each meal and before end of shift
* Report to manager and repairs or replacements of equipment
needed.
* Maintain a safe environment at all times.
