South Hampstead United Synagogue are seeking a reliable and dedicated Caretaker/Cleaner to help ensure our synagogue remains a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained space for members, visitors, and the wider community.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day care, security, cleanliness, and set-up of the building, supporting prayer services, events, and communal activities. You’ll work closely with the Synagogue Administrator and Senior Caretaker as part of a supportive team.
Key details:
- Hours: 45 hours per week (including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, with midweek rest day/s)
- Salary: Circa £32,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)
- Benefits: 20 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays, pension, Ride-to-Work scheme
We’re looking for someone who is trustworthy, proactive and friendly, with caretaking or cleaning experience, a strong sense of responsibility, and an appreciation of the synagogue’s ethos, values, and security needs.
