Overview
Prospero Teaching is looking for dedicated SEND Support staff to join primary schools, resource bases and special school settings across the UK. These opportunities are ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants and support staff who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs thrive in education.
As a SEND Support professional, you may work on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or as part of a wider classroom team, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Supporting children with SEND, including autism, ADHD, communication needs and complex learning needs
- Helping pupils to develop their confidence, independence and social skills
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning to meet individual needs
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
- Supporting positive behaviour and creating an inclusive learning environment
- Following individual education, care and support plans where appropriate
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education or SEND setting
- A patient, nurturing and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Relevant qualifications or SEND experience are desirable but not always essential
