About the role
Balfour Beatty is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Engineer to join our team in East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineering professional to develop their career while contributing to the delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects that make a lasting impact on local communities.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in site engineering, project delivery, and construction management within a collaborative and supportive environment.
As an Assistant Engineer, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
What you'll be doing
As an Assistant Engineer you will:
- Assist with setting out and surveying activities on site.
- Support the management and coordination of construction works.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate site records, quality documentation, and as-built information.
- Monitor progress and report on site activities.
- Support health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance across the project.
- Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in identifying and resolving technical and construction challenges.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous site experience through placements, internships, or graduate roles is desirable.
- A strong understanding of engineering principles and construction methods.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable).
