Support Worker – Learning Disabilities, Autism & Mental Health
The Princes Centre is looking for a caring, reliable, and motivated Support Worker to join our dedicated team. We support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs and also elderly individuals who could be isolated or living with dementia in a positive, person-centred environment.

Duties
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support
- Provide and support our Young Adults with meaningful activities tailored to their individual needs
- Encourage independence and life skills development
- Support clients with emotional, social, and daily living needs
- Work proactively to support individual care plans
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and professionals
- Support with medication administration following prescribed protocols
- Support with basic personal care in a dignified and respectful manor.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Provide mobility support, including assisting with transfers or walking
- Manage behaviour effectively through compassionate behaviour management techniques
- Drive clients to outings safely when required
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and observations made
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines and first aid procedures
Essential Requirements:
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible working approach
- Relevant certifications such as first aid are advantageous
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
- Valid driving licence preferred for transportation duties
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals
- Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge and experience working with elderly induviduals
- Knowledge and experience using Makaton
- Relevant care qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
- Previous experience in a support worker or care role
- Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism
