Job Summary
Due to continued growth, Corrigenda is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Mechanical Engineer with domestic gas qualifications who is looking to develop their career within the commercial sector and obtain their commercial gas ticket. This is an excellent opportunity to join our expanding team, working across a diverse portfolio of sites throughout Surrey and the surrounding areas, including Royal Berkshire, Guildford, Elmbridge, the London Borough of Merton, and a small number of remote sites in East Sussex.
The successful candidate will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive mechanical and plumbing works. Responsibilities will include servicing, maintaining, and repairing heating systems; TMV servicing; expansion vessel testing, installation, and replacement; repairs to heating and potable water systems; maintenance and replacement of 3-port valves; and installation and repair of pipework ranging from 15mm to 76mm copper and ½" to 2½" iron.
The role covers both domestic and commercial properties across the education, private, and public sectors. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship while ensuring all services are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with current legislation, industry standards, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to)
- Carry out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance across the estate, including installation, repair, and servicing of plumbing systems, fixtures, and fittings
- TMVs/ Temp Testing/ Radiator TRV Inspections/ Flushing/ Descaling
- Install of pipework, radiators, water heaters, pressure sets and other heating system equipment.
- Work on domestic boilers, servicing and fault finding.
- Support the business by mentoring and guiding plumbing apprentices when required, helping them develop technical skills and safe working practices.
- Work independently or as part of the plumbing & mechanical team to meet deadlines and contract performance standards.
- Work flexible hours, including occasional out-of-hours or emergency call-outs, to suit the plumbing and maintenance needs of the business.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, including when working at height, in confined spaces, or with pressurised systems.
- Liaise with sub-contractors and other departments to coordinate and complete plumbing & mechanical repairs and installations effectively.
- Carry out any other plumbing and mechanical related tasks as required by the company, within your skills and experience level.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Essential
- A suitable City and Guilds or equivalent NVQ qualification
- Domestic Gas Ticket
- Unvented Water Systems
- Recognised Health & Safety training
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
- Be able to operate SMART devices and complete electronic documentation
- Full UK driving license
- Pass Enhanced DBS background checks for working in schools
