At The Hermitage, we believe that exceptional care starts with exceptional people. We are a warm, friendly and family-focused care home where kindness, dignity and respect are at the heart of everything we do.
Our aim is to create a welcoming, homely environment where every resident feels valued, safe and supported to live life to the fullest. We recognise that moving into a care home is a significant step, and we are committed to ensuring that every resident feels at home, maintaining their individuality, independence and quality of life.
We're looking for caring, compassionate and reliable Health Care Assistants to join our daytime team. Whether you already have experience in care or are looking to start a rewarding new career, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents to live comfortably, safely and with dignity. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care while building meaningful relationships with residents, their families and your colleagues.
No two days are the same, but every day provides an opportunity to make a genuine difference to someone's life through kindness, compassion and respect.
Key Responsibilities

- Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming and maintaining their dignity at all times.
- Assist residents with eating, drinking and nutrition where required.
- Support residents to move safely using appropriate equipment and safe moving and handling techniques.
- Encourage independence by supporting residents to do as much for themselves as possible.
- Build positive, caring relationships with residents and their families.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities and enjoy meaningful moments throughout the day.
- Observe residents' physical and emotional wellbeing and report any changes promptly to senior staff.
- Complete care records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with senior carers and the wider care team.
- Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and colleagues.
- Follow all safeguarding, infection prevention and control, health and safety and company policies and procedures.

- Is naturally kind, caring and compassionate.
- Treats everyone with dignity, respect and empathy.
- Enjoys supporting older people and making a positive difference in their lives.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Works well as part of a team but is also able to use their own initiative.
- Is reliable, flexible and dependable.
- Remains calm and professional in a busy environment.
- Is committed to providing the highest standards of care.
- Is willing to undertake training and continue developing their skills.
Experience in a care setting is welcomed but is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from both Welsh speakers and non-Welsh speakers and are committed to supporting communication that meets the individual needs and preferences of our residents.
