Role overview
We are looking to recruit an Aberdeen-based Trainee Ships Agent to join our team. This is an exciting, varied and hands-on role supporting day-to-day vessel agency, marine logistics and customer service activity. The successful candidate will bring drive, commitment and a willingness to learn, while developing the skills required to deliver high standards of operational support in a fast-moving maritime environment.
The role will involve travel to other ports for vessel visits, crew and equipment movements, and customer support. A full driving licence is therefore essential. Candidates must also be aged 21 or over for company vehicle insurance purposes.
Working hours
Standard working hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. The role will include a future duty shift week approximately every four weeks. Flexibility is required to undertake paid overtime outside standard hours, including weekends, as part of a rota.
Key responsibilities
· Coordinate and action vessel requests for equipment, supplies, personnel support and other operational requirements.
· Raise, process and expedite customer purchase orders, ensuring requests are followed through accurately and efficiently.
· Support vessel visits, port calls, crew movements and logistics activity in line with customer and operational requirements.
· Input, retrieve and report operational data accurately using company systems and Microsoft applications.
· Drive company vehicles safely to and from vessels, ports and suppliers, transporting personnel, belongings and equipment as required.
· Communicate professionally with customers, vessel representatives, colleagues, suppliers and port stakeholders.
· Proactively assist colleagues and undertake ad hoc operational and administrative duties as required.
About you
You will be adaptable, proactive and comfortable working in a customer-facing environment where priorities can change quickly. You will have strong communication skills, a practical approach to problem solving and the motivation to learn the ships agency and marine logistics sector.

· Customer-focused, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Confident working independently, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while contributing positively to the wider team.

· Computer literate, with well-developed IT skills across Microsoft applications.
· Full driving licence and willingness to travel to other ports as required.
· Aged 21 or over for company vehicle insurance purposes.
Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
Ability to work alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while positively contributing to the wider team.
