Job Title: Cut and Screw Operative

Hours: Monday to Friday 39 hours per week

About the Role
As a Cut and Screw Operative you will be responsible for operating a variety of machines and equipment used in the cutting, threading, assembly, finishing, and packing of pipework. The role ensures that production is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Operatives will be trained across multiple machines and processes within the department and are expected to carry out allocated tasks flexibly to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation and Production
- Cutting of pipes of various sizes to the specifications set out by worksheets.
- Set up, operate, and monitor pipe threading and cutting machines (e.g. Landis, Rigid, Cergil, Rothenburg, Make-On).
- Carry out pre- and post-operational checks, ensuring machines are safe and correctly set.
- Adjust threads and settings to meet specifications and maintain quality standards.
- Use hand tools and manual threading equipment where required.
Assembly, Finishing & Packing
- Assemble pipe fittings using correct threads, compounds, and sealants.
- Carry out finishing tasks such as spray painting and applying protective coatings.
- Prepare pipes for packing and dispatch, including bundling, banding, shrink wrapping, and basic frame building.
- Complete packing lists and ensure products are correctly labelled.
Quality, Safety & General Duties
- Inspect products for defects and report non-conformance.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and wear PPE at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and report hazards or incidents.
- Support colleagues, complete production paperwork, and assist with stock as needed.
- Undertake training to develop skills across different processes.

- Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or machine operation environment.
- Able to pick up processes quickly under supervision
Desirable:
- Experience working with sprinkler or fire protection pipework.
