Job Overview
We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Fire Door Surveyors to join our growing team, carrying out fire door inspections across commercial, residential, and public-sector properties throughout the South East.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the condition, compliance, and performance of fire doorsets, identifying defects and non-conformities, and producing accurate reports with recommendations for remedial works. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fire door surveys and inspections in accordance with current industry standards and legislation.
- Inspect all fire door components, including door leaves, frames, hinges, closers, glazing, intumescent and smoke seals, ironmongery, and door gaps.
- Carry out both intrusive and non-intrusive inspections where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Identify defects, compliance issues, and potential fire safety risks.
- Record accurate measurements, photographs, and supporting evidence during inspections.
- Produce clear, detailed survey reports and remedial work schedules.
- Upload inspection findings using mobile surveying software and digital reporting systems.
- Liaise professionally with clients, building managers, contractors, and compliance teams.
- Ensure all reports are completed accurately and submitted within agreed timescales.
- Comply with company policies, site-specific procedures, and all health and safety requirements.
QualificationsEssential
- Previous experience carrying out fire door surveys or inspections.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- FDIS Diploma or an equivalent recognised fire door inspection qualification.
- FireQual, BM TRADA, IFI, or equivalent fire door inspection training.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong technical knowledge of fire door construction, components, and common defects.
- Good understanding of current fire safety legislation, standards, and best practice relating to fire doors.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance issues accurately.
- Strong report-writing skills and the ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation.
- Confidence using tablets, mobile devices, and digital inspection/reporting software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional client-facing approach.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, reliable, and quality-focused approach to work.
