An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Training Manager. The UK Training Manager will lead and oversee the operational training function across CLdN's UK port operations, ensuring a consistent, compliant, and effective training framework across all locations. The role is responsible for managing operational trainers, driving training standards, and developing a competent workforce capable of operating safely and efficiently within a dynamic port environment.
The role holder will work closely with operational leadership teams to ensure training supports business objectives, operational excellence, safety performance, and employee development.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and manage the Operational Training Team, driving a strong training culture across all UK ports and companies.
- Establish and maintain a consistent training strategy and delivery model across all ports.
- Standardise training materials, processes, assessments, and competency frameworks.
- Ensure training activities align with business requirements and operational priorities.
- Ensure all operational training complies with applicable UK legislation, industry standards, and company requirements.
- Establish robust governance and audit processes to verify training effectiveness and compliance.
- Maintain accurate training records and competency matrices.
- Design and deliver training strategies that support operational performance and safety standards.
- Ensure Operational training is consistent, compliant, effective and embedded across all departments.
- Ensure effective onboarding, induction, refresher, and re-certification programmes.
- Monitor training effectiveness through practical assessments, observations, and performance data.
- Identify competency gaps and implement corrective action plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational capability and workforce competence.
- Continually assess training to ensure cost-effective solutions for the business.
- Work with H&S and Operational managers to investigate impact of training on incidents and adapt training to help prevent future incidents.
- Liaise with L&D Manager to ensure sensible overlap and matching between L&D and Operational Training courses, records and audits, adapting any as required.
Your Profile:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual who:
- Has a recognised Training Qualification (e.g., CIPD Learning & Development, Level 3/4 Award in Education and Training, or equivalent).
- Experience managing training functions within a fast paced operational, logistics, transport, marine, ports, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing competency-based training programmes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels
- Able to demonstrate confidence in working under pressure and is able to use their own initiative.
- Has good IT Skills (MS Office and databases)
- Possesses a full clean driving license
