Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated chef to join our small (we mean small, a team of 5 and 2 of which being the owners - far from a large company) team, with the end goal of stepping into the role of Head Chef and running your own kitchen in the heart of Cambridge! The ideal candidate will have experience and a strong background in kitchens and fresh food preparation, with the ability to create exceptional dishes and specials. You will play a vital role in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food production, and leading a team of kitchen staff in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to the restaurant's menu and standards.
- Develop new menu items and creating specials, updating the menu and helping to update/maintain allergen documentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food production.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and ingredients, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock.
- Train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and best practices in hospitality.
- Ensure that all dishes are presented beautifully and meet the restaurant's quality standards before serving.
Skills
- Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and managing a team within a kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting.
- A deep understanding of hospitality principles and customer service excellence.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.
- Knowledge of food production processes and an ability to maintain high standards throughout service periods.
