Annual salary: Competitive salary
Shift: Week 1: 06.00 to 14.30 Monday to Friday with a 30-minute lunch break each day.Week 2: 14.30 to 00.30 Monday to Thursday, 14.30 to 22.00 on Fridays with a 30-minute lunch break each day. You will also be required to work alternate Saturday mornings from 06.00 to 10.30.

At Grundon, we are on the lookout for a dynamic, passionate, and driven Resource & Recovery Operative to join our Resource & Recovery team based in Colnbrook.

Reporting into the Resource & Recovery Manager you will play an important role in supporting our mission of leaving a better planet for future generations. You will play a key role in ensuring the recycling facility operates safely, efficiently and reliably. You will minimise downtime, support the achievement of KPIs, and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
You will also carry out planned preventative maintenance and provide operational cover when required, including during holidays, bank holidays and sickness.

What will you do
- Safely operate and carry out daily inspections of mobile plant, supporting an effective programme of preventative maintenance
- Conduct daily inspections of incoming waste deliveries to ensure compliance with site requirements and relevant legislation.
- Identify and document non-compliant waste, completing accurate non-conformance reports as required.
- Load recovered materials safely and efficiently into containers, curtain-sided vehicles and other transport, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and loads are photographed in line with legislative requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the Manager/Supervisor in maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised working environment.
- Take personal responsibility for maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, including the correct use of PPE.
- Promptly report any health and safety or environmental concerns, breaches, accidents, incidents, non-conformances and near misses to the management team.
- Contribute positively to a strong safety culture, ensuring site procedures and operational standards are consistently followed.
About you
- Competent in operating mobile plant, including forklifts, loading shovels and 360° excavators.
- Previous experience within the waste and recycling industry is desirable, with an understanding of recycling processing operations and baler equipment.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining excellent attendance
- Able to work safely and effectively in busy, noisy and fast-paced working environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexible and willing to adapt working hours to support the smooth and efficient operation of the processing plant.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Proactive and positive approach, with a willingness to get involved, share ideas and identify opportunities to improve processes, performance and the wider department.
