We are looking for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic Pastoral Support Assistant to join our friendly team in Failsworth. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.
As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a key role in promoting pupils' wellbeing, encouraging positive behaviour and creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Provide emotional, behavioural and pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day.

Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.

Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism and other additional needs.

Work alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement support strategies and behaviour plans.

Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement in learning.

Support pupils during break and lunchtime where required.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Communicate effectively with staff, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education or SEND setting.

Is patient, compassionate and resilient.

Can build strong professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Is confident supporting children with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques.

Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Previous experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs would be an advantage but is not essential.
