About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to join a growing renewable energy and retrofit business. This role is responsible for leading the technical function across surveying, design, installation and quality assurance, ensuring all renewable energy and retrofit projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest standards.
Working closely with Directors, Operations and Project Management teams, you'll provide technical leadership across Solar PV, Battery Storage, Air Source Heat Pumps, Insulation and Ventilation installations while driving continuous improvement and maintaining industry-leading technical standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company's technical function across renewable energy and domestic retrofit projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to surveyors, designers, project managers, installers and subcontractors.
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex installation and design queries.
- Review and approve technical surveys, system designs and installation methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with PAS 2030, PAS 2035, MCS, TrustMark, Building Regulations and manufacturer requirements.
- Carry out technical audits, quality inspections and site reviews.
- Investigate technical defects, customer complaints and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Drive Right First Time installation performance across all projects.
- Monitor installer competency, workmanship and compliance standards.
- Support accreditation audits and maintain certification compliance.
- Develop and improve technical procedures, installation standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead, mentor and develop the technical team, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to resolve technical challenges and improve project delivery.
- Support the introduction of new products, technologies and installation methods.

What We're Looking ForEssential
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager, Senior Technical Engineer or Technical Lead role within renewable energy, construction or domestic retrofit.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies and installation practices.
- Experience managing technical teams and subcontractors.
- Excellent understanding of quality assurance, compliance and industry standards.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of PAS 2030 and PAS 2035.
- Experience working to MCS and TrustMark standards.
- NICEIC, NAPIT or equivalent industry background.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Electrical, engineering or construction qualification.
- Experience delivering Social Housing or funded retrofit programmes.
