The Blair Drummond Smiddy is a thriving family-run farm shop celebrated for its fresh, local butchery, deli, and grocery. Our butchery department is at the heart of our business, and we are looking to grow our team.

We are inviting applications both from experienced professionals looking to lead and mentor and from dedicated individuals looking for a fresh start with full training.
The Role
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for food and a strong desire to develop their career.
You will be responsible for maintaining our high standards of deboning, production, and quality. You will play a key role in assisting with product development, maximising departmental profitability, and providing vital support and training to our junior team members.
Keen apprentices will additionally benefit from the opportunity to learn from our team of award-winning professionals. You will get hands-on experience and full training, with the opportunity to complete an SVQ/Modern Apprenticeship with Scottish Craft Butchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Whole Carcass Butchery: Processing beef, lamb, venison, and pork sourced from local farms.
- Production: Manufacturing sausages, burgers, pies, and ready-to-heat meals according to our award-winning, set recipes.
- Customer Service: Serving customers at the butchery and deli counters, making up orders to specification, and helping with counter displays.
- Food Safety: Maintaining strict guidelines regarding Food Hygiene and HACCP compliance.
- Retail Support: Packaging and labeling products, and helping with broader farm shop requirements to ensure the shop is beautifully presented.

- Pay Rate: Up to £13.95 per hour, depending on experience
- Contracted Hours: Up to 44 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Availability for weekend work is essential due to 7-day opening and the demands of the role
