We are seeking experienced chefs to join our kitchen team at Urban Garden. In this position, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our busy kitchen. We are looking for a someone with a passion for fresh food and an eye for detail. We are a friendly, chilled team, we're an independent company, chain-free. We pay every two weeks, straight into your bank. On top of an hour wage, we also offer tronc, from the 12.5% service charge, which 100% goes to the team. Typically this can add around £5 per hour* to your wage in the height of the season.
Chef - Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the head chef to prepare menus, including specials
- Order, prep, and keep stocked the common ingredients for all cooking stations.
- Follow the guidance of the head or sous chef in the preparation and presentation of the meals
- Abide by and enforce health codes and cleanliness standards in the kitchen and food storage areas
- Train and supervise junior chefs, including in best practices, safety, and cleanliness standards
- Check for plating accuracy (garnish, portion size, correct serving dish, etc.)
- Anticipate and communicate shortages to the sous chef or head chef
