Simonds of Botesdale, now part of the Transport Made Simple Group, are looking to recruit bus and coach drivers to join our friendly team in Diss, South Norfolk. A range of full and part time positions are available.
All full-time drivers are guaranteed 40 hours pay per week. There are also flexible rota options available, and if you want part-time work or guaranteed overtime we're happy to facilitate this.
We pay from duty start to duty finish - you will be paid for the entire shift with no deduction for breaks. Breaks are sometimes taken away from the depot.
We do expect drivers to put fuel, AdBlue and screenwash into their buses at the start / end of their shifts as required. We also require all vehicles to be litter picked and swept at the end of every shift. Where you have spare time (e.g. on depot spare shifts) you will be expected to do more thorough vehicle cleaning, including mopping and other interior cleaning and using appropriate equipment to conduct external cleaning. In all cases full training is given, PPE is provided and all of these duties are completed within paid time.
If you do not have a current Driver CPC, this is not a problem. We provide CPC training to all colleagues, and can arrange this for you before you start with us if required. We cover the cost of all CPC training, and also pay you for your time completing CPC training.
We offer a flexible, friendly working environment with local management who work hard to offer an enjoyable working environment for drivers. Our modern fleet of vehicles is maintained to the highest standard, and we invest heavily in new fleet. All brand new vehicles ordered are also specified with driver (cab) air conditioning and driver USB charging sockets, to make your time at work that little bit more pleasant.
We’re looking for candidates with a full category D or D1 driving licence (you must not have the 101 restriction code on your licence). We do also offer driver training if you do not currently have a bus licence. You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK, and you must bring a flexible, helpful and customer-focused approach to your work. We also need you to be confident using smartphone technology for walkaround checks and to receive job details, as we are a digital-first business.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is an essential part of this job and successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) application. Application cost can be met by the employer.
