An exciting opportunity has become available at NRG Riverside within our Leeds depot and we are looking for an experienced Welder/ Fabricator to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. As the Welder/ Fabricator your main responsibility will be to refurbish commercial vehicles (including refuse trucks) and carry out welding/ fabrication repairs on various vehicle and equipment types efficiently and effectively, ensuring rectification work has been carried out to the highest standard. What candidate are we looking for?
- Experience within previous roles similar such as Supervisor, Foreman, Shift Controller is preferred
- Experience in the management of Fabricators, Welding Engineers from a similar type of industry, for example body builders, commercial body repair & refurbishment
- Welding & fabrication recognised qualification (Essential)
- Municipal vehicle experience including working on vehicles such as refuse trucks (Preferable)
- Mechanical knowledge (Preferable)
- LGV class 1 licence (Preferable)
- Ability to communicate at all levels. This will include the ability to: -
- Seek and act on feedback on completed work and overall performance.
- Request information on products as and when required.
o Understand the principles of confidentiality when handling information and advice – what type of information and advice may be provided to whom.
- Commercial vehicle/ HGV repairs
- Welding / fabrication knowledge & understanding. Including
o Alloy welding
o MIG welding
o TIG welding
o Stick welding
o Luton van repairs
o Roller shutter doors
o Curtain repairs
What will be your duties?
- As a Shift Controller Fabricator you will undertake welding/fabrication repairs to varying types of commercial vehicles and equipment including refuse trucks.
- Undertake repairs off site at customers/third party premises when required.
- Identify any further work required as job progresses and report to Shift Controller.
- Work within allotted timescales and ensure work is completed efficiently to maximise productivity.
- Always ensure efficient use of parts & materials and correct repair method is used.
- All job cards and relevant paperwork to be completed correctly and to be legible.
- Demonstrate an ability to work safely alone when offsite following all lone working safety guidelines.
- General housekeeping within the workshop whilst ensuring your work area is kept clean.
- To follow all in house and 3rd party premises health & safety guidelines.
- To ensure all PPE is kept to a suitable standard and worn as specified within site rules.
- To request training and support to aid personal development while accepting and responding positively to feedback.
