More Than Security – Be Part of the TeamWatford Football Club is looking for professional, confident and approachable individuals to join our Training Ground Security Team.
This isn’t simply a role sitting behind a security desk.
Our Training Ground is a busy professional sporting environment used by players, coaching teams, employees, visitors, contractors and guests. Our Security Personnel play an important part in keeping the site safe, secure and welcoming, while ensuring access is appropriately controlled at all times.
You will often be one of the first people someone meets when they arrive at Watford Football Club, so professionalism, good judgement and excellent communication are just as important as security awareness.

What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Training Ground Security Team, your responsibilities will include:
* Controlling access and egress to the Training Ground.
* Checking staff, visitors, contractors and deliveries in accordance with Club procedures.
* Maintaining accurate visitor and security records.
* Conducting security patrols and reporting anything unusual or concerning.
* Monitoring access points and helping maintain the integrity of secure areas.
* Challenging unauthorised access in a professional and proportionate manner.*
Responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies and security concerns.
* Communicating clearly with the Club’s Operations and Security teams.
* Supporting emergency procedures, including evacuation and other safety arrangements.
* Providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for people arriving at the Training Ground.
* Maintaining appropriate confidentiality and discretion within a professional football environment.
* Supporting the Club’s commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re interested in attitude as much as experience.
You’ll need to be reliable, observant and confident enough to challenge when something isn’t right, while understanding that excellent security is also about communication and customer service.
You must have:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A professional and approachable manner.
* The confidence to challenge individuals appropriately when required.
* Good judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Strong awareness of security and personal responsibility.
* The ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
* Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
* The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to meet the operational requirements of the Club.
* A full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to locations required by the role.
* An understanding of the Club’s commitment to EDI and Safeguarding.
It would be great if you also have:
* Previous experience within security, football, sport, events, hospitality or another customer-facing environment.
* Experience of access control, gatehouse or reception security.
* Experience dealing with visitors and contractors.
* Knowledge of emergency and incident procedures.
* An SIA licence or relevant security qualification.
Previous football experience is not essential. If you have the right attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn, we’d like to hear from you.
