Hygiene Operative
Role Purpose
The Hygiene Operative is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the bakery. This role involves carrying out deep cleaning tasks across production, storage, and other areas to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out scheduled deep cleaning of all bakery production areas.
Clean ceilings, walls, and floors throughout the bakery.
Thoroughly clean oven exteriors, including chrome fronts, as well as the interior of smaller ovens.
Assist with the cleaning of machinery, machine components, and production equipment as required.
Clean tubs, utensils, and other bakery equipment to the required hygiene standards.
Clean ventilation covers and other high-level fixtures where appropriate and safe to do so.
Clean warehouse racking and storage areas.
Deep clean refrigeration areas, including walls, floors, shelving, and other surfaces.
Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with company procedures and food safety standards.
Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment, following COSHH guidelines and health and safety procedures.
Report any maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or hygiene concerns to the Bakery Manager.
Maintain accurate cleaning records where required.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a hygiene or industrial cleaning role is desirable, ideally within a food manufacturing or bakery environment.
Good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
