An exciting new opportunity has arisen working in the private healthcare setting.
A luxurious hospital specialising in a range of surgery and treatments has opened up in the heart of the North East (Gateshead), providing 5-star treatment and high quality care to each individual who walks through the door.
We have 2 fully equipped theatres, 1 minor op theatre, 4 recovery bays, 4 admission/discharge bays, 3 guest en-suite bedrooms. We provide a personalised service for each patient within this setting.
Purpose
To provide a range of services to individuals to ensure they receive the care they expect within an ethos of dignity and respect. Care is to be provided whilst conducting the underpinned company values and upholding the expectations of the NMC.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks/Duties
· Admitting and discharging patients under company protocol for scheduled surgery
· Experience working in theatre setting desirable (scrub/recovery/anaesthetic role)
· To provide safe and effective care of service users without direct supervision.
· To plan, implement and evaluate plans of patients’ care and needs.
· To ensure that own nursing practice is in accordance with hospital / location policies and guidelines and that professional practice is in accordance with the NMC Code.
· To supervise unregistered members of staff i.e. Support workers / Healthcare Assistants and ensure that tasks delegated to them are appropriate for delegation and that completion of tasks is monitored.
· To bring to the attention of the registered manager / senior member of staff, any factors that inhibit the delivery of high quality, safe, effective care or any instances or evidence of poor-quality clinical care.
· To assist in the setting and maintenance of clinical standards and participation in the clinical governance agenda.
· To participate in investigations arising from complaints or incidents / near misses.
· To actively participate in staff meetings, forums and development programmes in order to support development of service and maintenance of high-quality care.
· To participate in the induction programme for all newly appointed staff as required.
· To keep up to date with clinical and professional developments in healthcare and to undertake continuing professional development.
· To ensure that any information about service users is maintained confidentially and only shared when clinically appropriate to do so.
· To ensure that appropriate systems for the recording and distribution of information relating to service user charges are maintained.
· To monitor stock levels of medications and consumables.
· To prepare patient TTO medicines and provide these with instructions.
· To report service user and staff accidents, incidents and complaints as required under the direction of the senior staff
· To complete audit checks as required
· To communicate with patients and provide nursing support and advice to in and out-patients
· Ability to maintain accurate records
· Provide support out of hours
· Ensure that hazards are reported to the registered manager.
· Contribute to collaborative working relationships and effective communications between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
· Ensure all company infection control policies are followed. Undertake audits and observe national guidance for reporting, management and overall prevention of infection.
· Promote quality care and service through the use of best practice.
· Take responsibility for personal and professional development, including mandatory training.
· Regularly assess and evaluate practice by audit and implement change in a participative manner with nursing/business colleagues.
· Maintain professional records at all times.
· Participate in personal development review.
· Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour and ensure effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives.
· Have union/insurance cover where required.
· Maintain DBS on update service

· 5+ years in healthcare desirable
