ETC International College is looking for a professional and motivated cook to deliver a varied and nutritious menu for our diverse international student body.
ETC welcomes students from all over the world and endeavours to offer a high level of service in all areas of the business. The busy periods are fast paced so we are looking for someone with energy, enthusiasm and grit to deliver during our peak summer season. The flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is essential. Low season, outside of the summer, offers a slower pace, with occasional busier periods when groups are here.
Excellent communication skills are essential for the role to enable you to liaise effectively and diplomatically with students and staff.
Candidate Profile (essential):
- Creative individual with the ability to deliver a varied menu.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Must be highly motivated and able to work well within a team and under pressure.
- Must have a high level of spoken English
- Experience cooking in a fast paced kitchen / café / restaurant with the ability to cook and serve high volumes.
Desirable:
- Experience in a customer facing role.
Main responsibilities:
- To prepare and provide a healthy, balanced menu on a daily basis with food and drinks prepared to high standards of hygiene at all times and plan appropriately to minimise waste. All food and drink prepared and sold should be appropriate to ETC clients taking into account dietary requirements and allergies.
- Order ingredients and build good working relationships with suppliers.
- Ensure high standards of health and safety are maintained in all the cafés operations.
- Maintain clear records relating to food and drink items in stock, with particular reference to “use by” dates to ensure that all stock is fresh.
- Ensure that all appliances, equipment and surfaces within the café and the surrounding area are kept clean and in good working order.
- Prepare and serve food and drinks at break and lunch times.
- Manage queues and work with other departments in busier times to co-ordinate the organisation of multiple serving stations.
- Securely manage the till and ensure that records of all sales are kept accurately.
- Effectively promote the café and its services to students and staff.
- Manage the induction and on-going training of café staff.
- After training, to provide First Aid for staff and students when required.
- To explore ideas and opportunities to increase revenue.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday as standard
- Weekend and evening work essential during busy periods or when groups are present.
- Overtime available in busy periods.
