Job Summary/Purpose:
To own the data that flows through our business systems, and the platforms that data sits on. The role builds and maintains the reporting that production, commercial and finance rely on, manages our ERP and software vendor relationships, and makes sure the systems underneath are secure, available and recoverable.
Key Responsibilities:
Data engineering and reporting
· Own the data platform end to end: overnight cloud jobs, the SQL estate, EDI data flows and the reporting layer.
· Design, build and maintain the data pipelines and integrations between the ERP, production systems and reporting.
· Develop and maintain reporting for production, commercial and finance — moving us from reporting that describes last week to information that changes this week's decisions.
· Own data quality, integrity and consistency across the ERP and its integrations.
· Bring the EDI and SQL development support we currently buy in back in-house.
· Automate manual reporting and routine data handling.
Business systems and vendor management
· Own the relationships with our ERP and software support vendors: ticket management, escalation, release and roadmap planning.
· Manage ERP configuration and change requests, including user, licence and permission reviews.
· Manage software contract and licence renewals, and prepare the annual IT budget submission.
· Report monthly to management on service performance, incidents and IT spend.
Systems availability and security
· Make sure business systems are secure, patched and recoverable — including quarterly restore testing and half-yearly disaster recovery testing.
· Set the standard for routine server, network and account administration, and oversee its delivery by the IT Support Technician or by contracted providers.
· Carry out quarterly access reviews, and coordinate external security testing and remediation.
· Produce the IT evidence required for customer and certification audits, and support traceability and recall exercises.
Team and knowledge
· Act as the escalation point for the IT Support Technician, and provide technical direction and development support to that role.
· Document systems, procedures and vendor arrangements so that knowledge is held by the business rather than by an individual.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential
· Strong SQL, including working with production databases and optimising queries.
· Demonstrable experience designing, building and maintaining ETL processes or data pipelines.
· Experience with cloud data services, AWS preferred.
· Experience developing reporting in a BI or reporting stack.
· Confident managing software vendors and external providers.
· Self-directed, and disciplined about protecting planned work from reactive demand.
Desirable
· Manufacturing, food production or FMCG background.
· Familiarity with SDLC and application deployment.
· Scripting and automation — PowerShell, Python or similar.
· Exposure to certification or customer audit requirements affecting IT systems.
· A relevant qualification in a data, computing or engineering discipline.

· Quarterly restore tests and the half-yearly disaster recovery test completed and evidenced.
· Patch cycle running to schedule, with a test stage in place before production.
