PRIVATE MENTOR & EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT (Private Household)
Location: West Sussex based, with international travel
Schedule: Full-time | 09:00–19:00 | Two-week rotating pattern: Week 1 Tuesday–Saturday / Week 2 Monday–Friday | Additional flexibility required
A private high-net-worth family is seeking an exceptional mentor and educational support professional to primarily support their nearly 14-year-old twin sons within a home-education environment.
The family also has an elder son, who is largely independent; however, the successful candidate should be comfortable working within a household that includes three teenage dependents, with the primary focus of the role centred on the twins.
This is a unique opportunity suited to a confident, emotionally intelligent individual who can provide structure, guidance, positive mentorship, and proxy-parenting while helping establish consistency and routine in the teenagers’ daily lives.
The twins have been diagnosed with ADHD and additional SEN needs. They are bright, energetic and strong-willed young men who respond well to individuals who are patient, resilient and able to build trust whilst maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
External tutors will deliver their core academic curriculum in their home. The successful candidate will support this structure by helping reinforce learning where appropriate, assisting with homework when required, and most importantly designing and maintaining a structured and engaging daily programme that supports both educational development and personal growth.
The role requires someone active, organised and proactive, able to keep the teenagers engaged through a combination of academic structure, physical activity and enriching experiences. One of the twins is passionate about jump biking, while the other is a very keen golfer, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable encouraging and participating in both of these interests, along with introducing the teenagers to other activities to broaden their outlook on life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and oversee a structured daily routine and timetable to support the teenagers’ academic programme alongside external tutors
- Assist with homework and academic organisation where required
- Plan, coordinate and encourage educational, sporting and enrichment activities
- Provide consistent mentorship, guidance and positive role modelling
- Transport and accompany the teenagers to appointments, sessions and activities as required
- Support basic health monitoring when required, including taking vitals, ensuring routines relating to medication and wellbeing are followed
- Maintain structure, accountability and positive behavioural expectations
- Provide proxy parenting when parents are travelling or away overnight, including overnight stays as required
- Support the smooth running of a busy private household environment
WORKING PATTERN
This is a full-time position operating on a two-week rotating schedule:
Week 1: Tuesday–Saturday, 09:00–19:00
Week 2: Monday–Friday, 09:00–19:00
Due to the dynamic nature of the family's lifestyle, a high degree of flexibility outside of these core hours is essential. The successful candidate should be comfortable adapting to changing schedules, including overnight proxy parenting, extended support during periods of parental travel and additional hours where required.
International travel with the family will form part of the role and may involve periods of increased support. Wherever possible, travel schedules and additional requirements will be communicated in advance; however, candidates should appreciate that plans within a busy private household can occasionally change at short notice.
The family is committed to maintaining a supportive working environment. Periods of increased flexibility or travel will, wherever operationally possible, be balanced with appropriate recovery time or time off in lieu, recognising that the role naturally experiences busier and quieter periods throughout the year.
This role is best suited to someone who enjoys the variety, flexibility and unique opportunities that come with working within a private household and is looking for a long-term position as a trusted member of the family's wider support team.
