About Us
We are a rapidly growing physical testing laboratory specialising in approval testing of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE). Our work is practical and hands-on: using test rigs, equipment and controlled procedures to check that life-saving products meet European and International standards.
The Role
This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who enjoys practical, methodical work and takes pride in accuracy. You’ll be trained to run physical performance tests on RPE and to work to strict procedures and quality systems.
You’ll be involved in the full test cycle: preparing equipment and samples, setting up rigs, running tests and recording results. Over time, you’ll build the specialist capability to independently deliver a wide range of test projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out physical and performance testing of RPE to relevant standards (e.g., EN / ISO)
- Prepare samples and set up test equipment and rigs correctly
- Run tests safely, consistently and in line with written procedures
- Record results accurately and maintain clear, traceable test records
- Support routine checks, calibration activities and upkeep of equipment
- Work in accordance with our quality management system (ISO 17025)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of methods, equipment and ways of working
Training & Progression
Training is structured and can take 18–24 months to become fully competent across our test methods. We’re looking for someone who wants a long-term role and is motivated to grow into a Senior Test Engineer and a technical point of reference who can take ownership of projects end-to-end.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates with workplace experience in a practical technical environment (not necessarily a laboratory). The most important thing is your attitude, approach and reliability:
- Practical, hands-on and comfortable working with equipment/fixtures/rigs
- Strong attention to detail, you like getting things right and repeatable
- Able to follow defined processes precisely and produce tidy, clear records
- Organised and dependable; can manage time and priorities across multiple jobs
- Calm, professional communicator (written and verbal)
- Motivated to learn and stick with the training journey long-term
- Able to work on-site in Hurn, Dorset (reliable commute)
Backgrounds that often transfer well: quality/QC, manufacturing test, calibration/instrumentation, service/repair workshops, regulated production (medical devices/pharma), product/materials testing, automotive/aerospace suppliers.
What We Offer
- Full training in RPE testing, equipment and international standards
- A stable, hands-on technical role with a clear progression path
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Supportive team environment in a growing specialist laboratory
