Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shot Blaster to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing metal components through abrasive blasting processes to ensure surfaces are clean and ready for subsequent fabrication or finishing. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic to develop their skills within a dynamic industrial environment. We are looking for the ideal candidate to suit a shift pattern of Friday, 10pm-10am and Saturday shifts of either 6pm-6am or 10pm-10am.
Duties
- Operate shot blasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces according to specified standards.
- Set up and adjust blasting machinery, ensuring correct abrasive media and pressure settings.
- Inspect finished components for surface quality, ensuring removal of rust, paint, or other contaminants.
- Maintain the shot blasting area, including cleaning equipment and organising materials.
- Assist with assembly, fabrication, or surface preparation tasks as required.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep accurate records of work performed and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate and maintain shot blasting machinery effectively.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication techniques.
- Experience with construction painting, assembly, or warehouse operations is advantageous.
- Basic maths skills for measurements and setting machine parameters accurately.
- Familiarity with welding processes is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and work within precise specifications.
- Strong organisational skills to manage workload efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
