House Manager, Pontefract & District Golf Club

An exciting opportunity to make your mark Pontefract & District Golf Club is looking for an enthusiastic, people-focused and commercially minded House Manager to lead and develop our clubhouse operation. We are a friendly, welcoming golf club with around 600 members, a large dining room, 19th bar and recently refurbished patio. Our mission is “to enhance the experience of membership”, and this role will play an important part in achieving that. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants a level of autonomy, responsibility and the chance to shape the future of the clubhouse.
The role
You will oversee the day-to-day running of the clubhouse, working with staff, volunteers, suppliers and Club colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for members and guests.
You will be encouraged to bring fresh ideas and a commercial approach to the business, including:
* Developing and expanding our hospitality, food, beverage and events offering.
* Finding practical ways to reduce costs and improve value for money.
* Reviewing our utility bills and energy usage and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
* Looking at all aspects of the clubhouse and finding ways to work smarter and improve standards.
* Identifying opportunities to increase clubhouse activity, revenue and profitability.
* Reviewing suppliers, purchasing and operating costs to find savings and improvements.
* Developing new ideas that enhance the member and guest experience.We want someone who will look at the clubhouse and ask “How can we make this better?”
About you
You will ideally have experience in hospitality, a bar, pub, members’ club, golf club, leisure or events environment.
You will be:

* Hands-on and willing to get involved.

Golf club experience would be an advantage, but the right hospitality experience and attitude are equally important.
Key responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day clubhouse, bar and hospitality operation.
* Lead, support and develop staff and volunteers.
* Help organise events, functions, competitions and visiting societies.
* Manage stock, suppliers and operating costs.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, licensing, health and safety and cleanliness.
* Monitor budgets, identify savings and help grow revenue.
* Review clubhouse facilities, utilities and running costs and recommend improvements.
* Work with the Club’s committees and colleagues to develop the clubhouse.
* Provide a warm, professional and welcoming service to members and guests.
