Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Technician to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests and performing vehicle repairs and maintenance to ensure compliance with legal standards and safety regulations. Hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm and every 2nd Saturday 8.30am to 1pm. 22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and Christmas Shutdown. Bonus scheme and training costs covered.
Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and manufacturer specifications, ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental standards.
- Diagnose vehicle faults using mechanical knowledge, hand tools, and power tools, and perform necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Perform vehicle inspections, including brake tests, emissions testing, and safety checks.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs such as brake replacements, suspension work, and engine diagnostics.
- Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle components or parts safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and services performed.
- Ensure the workshop remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an MOT Tester or Automotive Technician is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge with a good understanding of vehicle systems and components.
- Competence in using hand tools and power tools for repair work.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive repair or MOT testing are advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment.
