Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools and moulds used in various production processes. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with CAD software, and experience with fabrication techniques. The Tool Maker will play a vital part in ensuring the efficiency and quality of our manufacturing operations, particularly in plastics injection moulding and other specialised tooling applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Fabricate tools through machining processes including milling, grinding, welding, and assembly.
- Maintain and repair existing tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Operate hand tools and fabrication equipment to produce precise components according to specifications.
- Collaborate with production teams to understand tooling requirements and troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Perform quality checks on fabricated tools to meet strict tolerances and standards.
- Document work procedures and maintain accurate records of tool modifications and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all fabrication activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tool Maker or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Strong skills in machining processes including milling, grinding, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge related to plastics injection moulding and tooling design.
- Familiarity with hand tools, assembly processes, and the use of various fabrication equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail coupled with organisational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.

Pay: £36,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
