At Practice Plus Group, we're committed to delivering outstanding healthcare through innovation, quality and safe patient care. We're now seeking an experienced and influential Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DDIPC) to provide strategic leadership across our hospital network.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and drive infection prevention and control (IPC) standards at an organisational level, working closely with senior executives, clinical leaders and operational teams to ensure the highest standards of patient safety, governance and quality improvement throughout our services.
Reporting to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (Chief Medical Officer), you will act as a senior specialist advisor for infection prevention, communicable disease management and healthcare-associated infection reduction across Practice Plus Group Hospitals. You will support the development and delivery of our corporate IPC strategy while ensuring robust governance frameworks, assurance processes and continuous improvement programmes are embedded throughout the organisation.
This is a national role supporting all of our services across the UK so there will be some overnight stays expected.
As our Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DDIPC), you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for infection prevention and control (IPC) across all hospital services.
- Lead the development and delivery of the corporate IPC strategy.
- Advise Executive Teams and Boards on infection risks, performance and regulatory compliance.
- Drive programmes to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety.
- Act as the organisation's senior IPC and communicable disease expert.
- Lead responses to outbreaks, infectious disease incidents and health protection concerns.
- Use surveillance data and assurance intelligence to identify risks and deliver quality improvements.
- Support CQC inspections, accreditation reviews and compliance activities.
- Develop IPC education, leadership development and succession planning programmes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with UKHSA, NHS England, ICBs and other key stakeholders.
- Support antimicrobial stewardship and emerging antimicrobial resistance initiatives.
- Provide professional leadership to the Group IPC network, ensuring consistent standards across all sites.
- Deputise for the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, representing the organisation at senior governance, executive and external meetings as required.
A UK-registered medical or nursing professional (NMC, GMC or equivalent) with:
- A minimum of 5 years’ senior clinical/leadership experience in an associated role
- Experience of infection prevention and control within acute hospital settings, including surgical services
- Experience leading large-scale quality improvement programmes
- The ability to influence senior leaders, executives and Boards
- Experience managing outbreaks, major incidents and regulatory inspections
- Advanced knowledge of infection prevention and control, microbiology and epidemiology
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- A collaborative and visible leadership style with a strong commitment to patient safety
- Flexibility to support service needs, including working beyond normal hours when required

What you can expect in return
- A basic salary of c£85,000 per annum based on experience
- £4,000 per annum car allowance
