The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join an Ofsted Outstanding specialist SEN provision supporting pupils across KS2, KS3, and KS4.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly supportive environment, helping neurodiverse learners, including pupils with Autism (ASC) and SEMH needs, access education and achieve their individual EHCP targets. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide personalised support that promotes both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
This role is ideal for someone who takes a therapeutic, relationship-focused approach and is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN and additional needs
- Support pupils in accessing lessons and engaging with learning activities
- Implement personalised strategies linked to EHCP outcomes
- Assist with literacy, communication, and emotional regulation interventions
- Support positive behaviour and promote engagement within the classroom
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider SEN team
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
- Experience working with pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH, or complex needs
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
- Ability to build strong relationships and support emotional wellbeing
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices
- Passion for supporting vulnerable learners to achieve their full potential
