Bar Person
We are looking for a friendly, confident, and professional Bar Person to join the team at Muse Brasserie Cheltenham.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys creating exceptional guest experiences, and has experience serving wine, cocktails, and premium beverages in a busy restaurant or bar environment. Experience working in a European or French-inspired brasserie is highly desirable.
The Role
As a Bar Person, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality beverage service, preparing and serving drinks to guests, and supporting the smooth operation of the restaurant bar. You will have strong knowledge of wines, cocktails, spirits, and other beverages while maintaining the high standards expected of a modern European brasserie.
Salary assumes applicants are aged 21 or over.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of drinks, including wines, cocktails, spirits, beers, and soft drinks
- Provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service to guests at the bar and restaurant tables
- Offer recommendations on wines, cocktails, and beverage pairings
- Maintain excellent knowledge of the drinks menu and seasonal specials
- Upsell beverages naturally and confidently while focusing on guest satisfaction
- Ensure drinks are prepared consistently and presented to a high standard
- Manage bar stock, including replenishment and rotation of products
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of the bar area
- Handle payments and operate the POS system accurately
- Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
- Support private dining events, functions, and special occasions
- Ensure all licensing, health, safety, and hygiene standards are followed
About You
- Previous bar experience is essential
- Experience serving wine, cocktails, spirits, and premium beverages
- Experience working in a European or brasserie-style restaurant is advantageous
- Passion for hospitality, food, wine, and cocktails
- Confident, friendly, and professional manner
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods
- Excellent attention to detail and presentation
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
- Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within the team
