About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Approved Electrician to join a growing renewable energy business working across domestic and commercial projects throughout the South of England.
This is a varied electrical role, combining traditional electrical installation, testing and fault-finding with the opportunity to develop specialist experience across Solar PV, battery storage, air source heat pumps and EV charging.
Renewable energy experience is advantageous but not essential. Full training and development will be available for an experienced electrician looking to move further into the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation work across domestic and commercial properties
- Install, test, inspect and commission electrical systems to BS 7671 standards
- Complete electrical fault-finding, repairs and remedial works
- Install consumer units, distribution boards, protective devices, cabling and isolators
- Complete electrical testing, certification and commissioning documentation
- Carry out electrical works associated with Solar PV, battery storage and ASHP systems
- Install and connect Solar PV inverters, isolators and associated equipment where trained
- Support EV charger installations where required
- Read electrical drawings, specifications and manufacturer instructions
- Work alongside heating engineers, Solar PV installers, roofers and other installation teams
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and customer service
- Complete job sheets, test certificates and project records accurately
- Support apprentices and less experienced team members where appropriate
Requirements
Essential:
- Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Inspection & Testing qualification, such as 2391 or equivalent
- Proven electrical installation experience
- Strong fault-finding and testing skills
- Good understanding of electrical health and safety
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable – training available:
- Solar PV installation experience
- Battery storage experience
- ASHP wiring or commissioning experience
- EV charging experience
- Domestic and commercial electrical experience
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems or MCS requirements
A strong electrical background and willingness to learn are more important than previous renewable energy experience.
