Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the day to day operation of the Clerks' Room, including managing enquiries, answering telephone calls and ensuring work is prioritised efficiently.
- Proactively managing Counsel's diaries by chasing papers and ensuring all documentation is received in advance of hearings, conferences and other commitments.
- Accurately recording instructions, briefs and case information within the LEX case management system.
- Managing the exchange and filing of Skeleton Arguments, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Coordinating hearing dates and liaising with solicitors, defendants and court staff to arrange listings where required.
- Assisting with Chambers' business development by maintaining the website, updating members' profiles and publishing social media content.
- Providing direct support to the Head Clerk, Senior Management Team and members of Chambers, ensuring a consistently high standard of client service.
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within a Barristers’ Chambers or similar professional services environment is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise professionally with solicitors, Counsel, court staff and clients.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, including experience of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement.
- A flexible approach and willingness to support colleagues across the clerking team.
