SEND Teaching Assistant, Key Stage 2, Iver
About the school
Our client is a welcoming mainstream primary school in Iver, with a strong, inclusive ethos and a high level of SEND need across the school. Their Key Stage 2 classes include a number of pupils requiring additional support, so they're looking for someone who genuinely understands SEND and can help those children thrive within a busy mainstream classroom. It's a supportive staff team where teaching assistants are valued as an essential part of the classroom.
The role
This is a hands-on Teaching Assistant role for someone who leads from the front and gets involved the moment a situation calls for it, rather than waiting on the sidelines. Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo, you'll support Key Stage 2 pupils both within the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping those with additional needs access the full curriculum alongside their peers.
You won't sit back and observe. You'll spot early when a pupil is struggling, step in to keep them regulated and engaged, and adapt your approach in the moment. You'll deliver targeted interventions with energy and consistency, support the wider class where needed, and take genuine ownership of the pupils you work with, building trusting relationships that help them grow in confidence and independence.
About you
· Proactive, resilient and quick to act, with the confidence to step in and lead when the moment demands it.
· Experienced or confident supporting pupils with SEND, including needs such as autism, ADHD and speech, language and communication needs.
· Comfortable balancing 1:1 support with whole-class assistance in a busy mainstream setting.
· Patient, consistent and genuinely invested in every child's progress.
· A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification and prior SEND experience are desirable, though a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves matter just as much.
