Fire Door Inspection, Repair & Installation Specialist
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: Full-time
Location: Various locations across the Midlands.
Role Purpose
Capital Care Group is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Door Inspection, Repair & Installation Specialist to take responsibility for the inspection, maintenance and management of fire doors across our care homes.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge of fire doors with practical maintenance and repair skills. They will be responsible for carrying out regular inspections, identifying defects, completing appropriate remedial works and maintaining accurate records to demonstrate that our fire doors are being properly managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled fire door inspections across Capital Care Group properties.
- Inspect fire doors, frames, hinges, closers, seals, glazing, gaps, signage and associated components.
- Identify defects and assess the appropriate remedial action.
- Complete routine fire door repairs and maintenance where competent to do so.
- Undertake adjustments, replacement of suitable components and other minor remedial works.
- Install and fit new fire doors and associated frames, components and hardware in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements and relevant standards, where appropriately qualified and competent to do so.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, defects, repairs and remedial works.
- Ensure outstanding defects are appropriately recorded, prioritised and followed through to completion.
- Provide advice to Estates and Maintenance teams regarding fire-door requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of Capital Care Group's internal fire-door inspection and maintenance procedures.
- Carry out quality checks on completed remedial works.
- Maintain evidence of qualifications, training, competency and continuing professional development.
- Keep up to date with relevant fire-door standards, guidance and industry best practice.
- Provide reports and assurance information to senior management when required.
- Support audits, inspections and any regulatory or compliance reviews relating to fire doors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven practical experience working with fire doors.
- Strong carpentry, joinery or fire-door maintenance background.
- Experience carrying out fire-door inspections and identifying defects.
- Good understanding of fire-door components, construction and maintenance requirements.
- Evidence of appropriate training and competency in fire-door inspection and maintenance.
- Ability to maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records.
- Good understanding of working within your own competence and recognising when specialist support is required.
- FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors.
- FDIS Certified Fire Door Inspector status, or willingness to achieve this.
- Additional recognised fire-door repair, maintenance or installation training.
- Experience working within care homes, healthcare, residential or other higher-risk environments.
- Relevant carpentry/joinery qualification.
- Experience developing inspection and maintenance procedures.
- Full UK driving licence.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
